About Tonino

Located in the heart of Jamaica Plain, MA, Tonino is a neighborhood restaurant first and an Italian restaurant second. Drawing inspiration from the trattorias, enotecas and aperitivo bars that are the heartbeat to the smaller neighborhoods surrounding Rome’s city center, Tonino serves to be a space for locals to gather, relax and be in community with one another. 

Chef Luke Fetbroth partners with local restaurateur David Doyle (Tres Gatos, Casa Verde) to bring handmade pastas, Sicilian-style pizza, and an eclectic, food-centric beverage program to their own neighborhood.

Job Description

  • Provides friendly and knowledgeable food and beverage service from greet to goodbye by maintaining expert knowledge of all menu offerings, steps of service and allergy information.

  • Prepares and serves the beverage menu in a neat and orderly way to minimize waste.

  • Maintains a respectful (read: quick-footed)  pace when running food from kitchen to dining room.

  • Executes service and team training (after being trained themselves).

  • Polishes glassware.

  • Helps our dishwashers with dishes during down time.

  • Turns in all guest slips properly closed out, including comps and voids.

  • Accurately completes closing reports including cash tips and contributes to tip pool as applicable; Records tip information, as directed by Management.

  • Maintains an accurate bar bank.

  • Completes opening, running and closing side work checklist for shift daily.

  • Closes down the dining room in an orderly and efficient way (i.e. “Close to Open”).

  • Helps receive and organize beverage orders on an as needed basis.

  • Reports guest feedback, service, and food quality issues to Management in a timely manner. 

  • Maintains refrigerators, freezers and dry storage areas in a clean and organized fashion.

  • Extends hospitality to all guests and, by extension, guests of our related restaurants, Tres Gatos and Casa Verde.

Compensation 

Tonino is a pooled house. PM shifts start at $8 per hour plus gratuity. AM shifts start at $15 per hour plus gratuity. 

Schedule 

Minimum of 2  shifts a week. We are closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
